Olprinon, seçici bir fosfodiesteraz 3 (PDE3) inhibitörüdür. Olprinone, pozitif inotropik ve vazodilatör etkileri olan kardiyotonik ajan olarak kullanılır. Olprinononun mikro dolaşımı iyileştirdiği ve inflamasyonu azalttığı rapor edilmiştir. Olprinon sıklıkla kardiyopulmoner bypass (CPB) sonrasında kalp debisini arttırmak için kullanılır. KPB'den ayrılma başlatıldığında olprinon 0,2 µg/kg/dk hızında infüze edildi. Olprinone ayrıca mekonyumun neden olduğu oksidatif akciğer hasarında güçlü antioksidatif ve antiinflamatuar etkiler göstermiştir.
